Margriet Grant lives in Northern Virginia with her husband and two young children. She was born on the island of Texel in the north of the Netherlands in 1971. As a child she spent hours doodling in notebooks and quickly stood out in school for her creativity. She finished Nimeto, a school for window dressing and graphic design and a year of Art School in Utrecht, Netherlands. In Art School teachers steered her away from being “too illustrative.” She went on to the School of Journalism and holds a Bachelor's Degree in her native tongue, Dutch. In 1998 she married her American husband and took a job at a local newspaper designing ads. She’s now come full circle and devotes her time to raising a family and illustrating for children and adults. In February 2005 she had her first two childrens' books published by Standard Publishing. She continues to develop herself creatively and also started a successful after school art program at her children's school. During the summer months she teaches and co-teaches workshops on photography and illustration at portrait artist Patty Rice's studio (PatriciaRiceStudio.com).
